Local company pitches in to help Flint

February 15th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

WHAG TV reports that with the ongoing water crisis in Flint, Mich., one local company decided to offer assistance. “I think everybody needs to do their part to help. Just because it's not in your community doesn't mean that you're not responsible for helping," said Dayna Spielman, director of sales & marketing, Berkeley Club Beverages.

That's exactly what the folks at Berkeley Springs Water Company are doing. They've been producing water since 1934, and this isn't their first time helping someone in need.

The idea to help Flint originated from a company called Pitt-Ohio; their employees raised funds to buy water, which is provided by Berkeley Springs Water Company.

“The employees are donating money for that, so we gave them a deep discount – about cost for the water – so, that it was mutually beneficial for both of us," Spielman said.

The drinking water contamination in Flint is disturbing to the company.
