Local Delegate Seats May Have Competition in Next Year’s Election

All four seats on the District One Legislative Delegation will be up for election next year- and while two of those are expected to be uncontested- there could be two primary challenges for the other seats.  State Senator George Edwards and Delegate Wendell Beitzel are not expected to be challenged in the primary or the general election- Delegates Mike McKay and Jason Buckel may see fellow republicans seeking those seats. Buckel, in the middle of his freshman term has already risen to the post of deputy minority whip. However local historian and retired state planner Al Feldstein is at least considering making a run in the 1B primary.  Meanwhile Delegate 1C republican Mike McKay could be challenged by the spouse of the man he succeeded. Former Cumberland City Councilwoman Nicole Alt Myers, the wife of former 1C Delegate Leroy Myers, is said to be planning to run for the seat.  McKay says he is aware of the rumors…
