Local Officials To Attend MACO Conference

The Allegany County Commissioners Jacob C. Shade and William R. Valentine, County Administrator David A. Eberly, and Director of Human Resources Brian P. Westfall will participate in the Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) Winter Conference, December 7 – 9, 2016. Hundreds of participants are expected for the conference at The Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Hotel in Cambridge.

The theme of the conference is “An Ounce of Prevention.” The conference will focus on how counties can prepare to best serve and protect their residents across many different areas of county service. Sessions will discuss public health, maintaining infrastructure, and strategies to be certain counties are ready for possible emergency scenarios, developing trends, and long-term changes.

The goal of the event is to provide county decision makers and other participants with tools for more effective leadership and a clearer perspective on the issues that will be addressed during the upcoming Maryland General Assembly Session. The ultimate result of attendance is more effective and efficient county government.

During the conference, local government officials will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and understanding of the most important issues facing local governments. Officials will share ideas and discuss viable solutions to numerous challenges, small and large. Year after year, the short and long term benefits from talking face-to-face with colleagues are immeasurable.
