Local School Board Relying On State For Additional Funding

Weeks ago, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan announced legislation that would add an additional $4.4 billion from state casino revues into schools and $1 billion of that into school construction. Hogan says $125 million of that will go towards security cameras and other similar measures.  Also, $50 million a year is budgeted to fund more counselors and school resource officers. With Allegany County likely to once again provide the Board of Education with maintenance of effort level funding- the local board is relying on the state to come through with additional funding.
