On Wednesday, September 2,  school system administrators and elected school board members paid a surprise visit to Dr. Stephanie Marchbank’s classroom at Mountain Ridge to announce that she had been selected as one of seven finalists in the 2015-2016 Maryland State Teacher of the Year program.             “Maryland teachers are among the nation’s finest, and the work of these outstanding finalists represents the sparkling creativity and energy found in classrooms through the State,” said Dr. Lillian Lowery, State Superintendent of Schools.  “Maryland’s teachers offer our students world-class instruction, providing a passport to their future success.”

Dr. Marchbank is her school’s English/Language Arts instructional leader as well a member of the School Improvement Team, the Emergency Planning Team, the Public Relations Committee, and the Scholarship Committee.  She has also worked as an adjunct university professor and volunteers at her church and as a PTO member.
