A longtime public servant, community volunteer and veteran has passed away following a lengthy illness. Warren "Whiz" E. Foote a longtime town councilman in his hometown of Lonaconing passed away Tuesday at the age of 74. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1962-1965, he was a lifetime member of the Ocean City American Legion Post 166. Whiz was employed by St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for 35 years prior to retiring. He served as councilman for 30 years- and was also involved in numerous committees within the county and surrounding areas as president of Allegany Garrett Chapter of the Maryland Municipal League, member of the Sanitary Committee, and board member of Allegany County HRDC.
