Longtime Allegany County teacher killed in multi vehicle accident in Georgia

A former Allegany County teacher is dead after a multi vehicle accident  on I-95 northbound in Savannah Georgia  on Sunday afternoon.  Lou Petronella, a longtime teacher in the Allegany County public school system and well as having taught in Mineral County, was killed and his wife Becky was injured in the crash. I-95 was closed for several hours as law enforcement worked to clear the scene.  Six cars were involved in the crash. Troopers say that four people were injured.  Mrs. Petronella remains  in the ICU of a local hospital. Mr Petronellaa, in addition to teaching, was active in the teachers union and was a reprentative on the Allegany County Education Support Council. No funeral arrangement have been announced, Mr Petronella was 82

    Becky I am so sorry. Lou was the most wonderful help during my term as President of the ACESP as well as a good friend.
