Saturday evening at around 7:45 PM, officers were dispatched to a Glenmore Street residence for an assault with a handgun. Officers were advised that the suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle and a description of the vehicle was given. Officers located the vehicle that was described a few streets away driving away from the scene.
It was determined that the vehicle that was stopped was not the suspect to the incident but was the victim. Officers interviewed the victim and other officers responded to the scene.
Once on the scene officers made contact with numerous witnesses. A suspect was identified and officers were able to locate him in the area. Thomas Warair Pittman was taken into custody without incident. He informed officers of where he took the handgun and placed it prior to them making contact with him. Officers were able to retrieve the weapon which was found to be loaded with blank rounds. Pittman was transported to Police Headquarters for processing. He was later taken before the District Court Commissioner where he was held without bond.
