Man Arrested After Goethe Street Incidents

On Saturday, Cumberland City Police responded to Goethe St in the area of the cemetery for the report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers contacted a witness who advised a male subject was attempting to gain entry into multiple parked vehicles in the area. Officers then located the male suspect inside the cemetery where he was found to be digging dirt with his hands and pulling weeds. He was identified as Anthony Michael Vassallo, 45, of Cumberland. As a result, Vassallo was taken into custody and issued a criminal citation for disorderly conduct. He was then released, pending trial in District Court.

A short time later, Officers were called to the area of the Downtown Mall for the report of a male subject who was attempting to gain access into an unoccupied Cumberland City Police marked cruiser. Vassallo was located in the nearby area and positively identified as the suspect. As a result, Vassallo was issued a citation for tampering with a motor vehicle.
