On Wednesday, October 31st, 2018 the Cumberland Police Department responded to the area of Decatur Street for the report of a suspicious male carrying a large knife. When officers arrived, they observed a male identified as Daniel Scott Wise wielding a large machete over his head. As officers approached it was apparent that Wise was intoxicated and posed a danger to others in the area. He was placed under arrest and charged with wearing and carrying a deadly weapon, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and failure to obey a lawful order. Wise was taken before the District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center on a temporary commitment.
