Man Arrested On Assault Charges

On 02/18/16 Cumberland Police Officers served an arrest warrant on Corey Daniel Smith.  The warrant stemmed from an incident that occurred on 02/16/15 on Bedford Street in Cumberland.  The victim called the Cumberland Police Department and stated she and her boyfriend had been in an argument.  She stated the argument became physical and her boyfriend, Corey Daniel Smith, assaulted her.  She stated he then left the residence and took her vehicle.  She has allowed him to use the vehicle in the past but did not give him permission to use the vehicle on this occasion.  Smith also took her cell phone and damaged it.  Smith had left the scene prior to the Officer’s arrival.  Charges were filed at District Court.  Smith was located, placed under arrest and was taken to the Allegany County Commissioner’s Office.  He was released on his own recognizance awaiting trial in District Court.

Charges: Assault-Second Degree, Unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and Destruction of Property.

 On April 30th 2015 at approximately 9:30 PM, Deputies of the Allegany County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence on Old Church Lane in Cumberland for a reported assault. Investigation revealed that 18 year old Aden Patrick Lehman had allegedly assaulted multiple people at the residence. Minor injuries were observed and did not require medical attention. 

Lehman was arrested and charged with 2 counts of second degree assault. He was taken before a District Court Commissioner and released on his own recognizance. 

Maryland State Police also responded to the location.
