Man Arrested on Domestic Disturbance Downtown

On Thursday, September 3rd, 2020 the Cumberland Police Department responded to the area of E. Harrison Street for the report of a domestic disturbance.  When officers arrived, contact was made with a female with visible injuries to her face and neck.  A witness in the area told officers that he saw a male suspect chocking the female and pushing her to the ground.  The suspect was identified as George Lester Harman Jr. who was also present when officers arrived.  Harman was arrested and charged with assault and reckless endangerment.  He was taken before the District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center held without bond.
