Man Arrested Twice For Trespassing On South Central Avenue

Early Saturday evening, at about 7:45 PM,  officers from the Cumberland Police Department were dispatched to a South Central Avenue residence for a trespassing complaint. Officers arrived and made contact with the complaint. They were advised that 53 year old William Jacob Lawrence was inside the apartment and was refusing to leave.

Officers made contact with Lawrence and advised him to leave the property. Lawrence became irate and refused to cooperate. Officers told Lawrence to keep the peace and leave the property. Lawrence is said to have continued to cause a disturbance and refused to leave. Officers attempted to take Lawrence into custody but he attempted to pull away from officers. After a brief struggle Lawrence was taken into custody.

Lawrence was transported to Police Headquarters for processing. Lawrence was later taken before the District Court Commissioner where he was released pending trial in District Court.

Then, at around 11:30 PM, officers observed Lawrence once again on the property at the South Central Avenue address attempting to gain access. Officers placed Lawrence under arrest for trespassing. Lawrence was transported to Cumberland Police Headquarters for processing before being taken to District Court. At the conclusion of the initial appearance in District Court Lawrence was held on a $25,000.00 bond.
