Man Charged In Garrett County Animal Cruelty Case

July 26th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

A man from Eastern Garrett County has been charged with 22 counts of Animal Cruelty after a six week investigation.

Animal Control from the Garrett County Sheriff's Office responded on June 8th to a residence on National Pike to investigate a cat complaint.  While on the scene, officers observed numerous dogs penned up in very bad conditions.  Ten large shepherd type dogs in poor condition were surrendered at that time.

The dogs were taken to the Garrett County Animal Shelter, and eventually to Hart For Animals, where it was determined that three of the dogs would be euthanized due to painful, severe and chronic infections.  The remaining seven have either been adopted from Hart, or are available for adoption.

58 year old Mark David Shrader was determined to be the person responsible.  He is now free after posting $10,000 bond.
