On Wednesday, 10/19/2011, members of the C3I Warrant/Fugitive Unit arrested 34 year old John Ervin Arnold, of Cumberland, after a warrant had been obtained for his arrest.
The charges against Arnold stem from an investigation by the Maryland State Police and the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) into allegations that Arnold had stolen a large sum of cash from his employer, Mountainview Healthcare. The victim first reported the incident to the Maryland State Police in early August after discovering that approximately $15,000.00 was missing from a business account and was unaccounted for. Arnold was working as the office manager at that time.
Arnold was charged with three counts of Theft ($1000.00 to under $10,000.00) and one count of Theft Scheme ($10,000.00 to under $100,000.00). He was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance, and was ordered held on $20,000.00 bond. He has since posted bond, and is free pending his next court appearance.
