Man Held After Alleged Domestic Assault

On Saturday, The Cumberland City Police Department responded to a residence in the 300 block of Frederick St for the report of a possible assault.

Upon arrival, officers contacted a male subject who was observed leaving the scene. The subject was stopped by officers in regards to the incident. The subject stated that he and his girlfriend had gotten into an argument inside the home and that she was distraught over him leaving her. He further stated that she had inflicted injury to herself with a knife because of this. It was also found at this time that the male subject had given officers a false name.

Officers also contacted the female victim who had visible cuts to her legs and neck. She stated that she and the male had gotten into an argument in the home which turned violent. She advised she was drug around the home by her hair and cut with the knife by the male subject who was then identified as Mark Henry Cosner. Other witnesses to the incident were also interviewed and provided similar statements to that of the victim.

As a result, Cosner was placed under arrest and taken to Police Headquarters. He was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his initial appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held without bond.

Arrested: Mark Henry Cosner Age: 47, Cumberland MD.

Charges: Assualt 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment, Obstructing & Hindering, Providing False Name.
