On Monday afternoon, at approximately 2:41 pm deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 11000 block of Winchester Road in the LaVale section of Allegany County for a reported vehicle vs pedestrian accident. Upon arrival deputies found a single vehicle vs pedestrian accident with a male patient lying in the roadway with serious injuries being treated by EMS. The male patient was transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center by the Cresaptown Volunteer Fire Department Ambulance where he was later pronounced dead.
Once the victim was transported from the scene investigators with the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team with assistance from the Cumberland City Police Department Crash Reconstruction Team began their investigation.
At this time the accident investigation in on going and additional information will be released at a later time. The identity of the victim is being withheld until next of kin can be notified.
