Man waiving knife at traffic arrested

On Friday at approximately 1:00 PM the Cumberland City Police Department was dispatched to the 300 block of Greene Street for a male waving a large knife and walking into traffic. Officers arrived on scene and observed Daniel Keith Gibson III waving a large knife drawing attention from passing motorists and individuals in the area. The officers were able to get Mr. Gibson to drop the knife and he was placed under arrest without issue. Mr. Gibson was transported to the police station and issued a criminal citation. Mr. Gibson was released on the citation pending trial in District Court.

 

Arrested – Daniel Keith Gibson III (24) Cumberland, MD

Charge – Disorderly Conduct

    It’s a sad commentary on our times.
    I remember years ago when we would stand in traffic and wave a knife. People would drive by and smile or wave their fist or possibly take a shot at us as they went by.
    Nowadays some bleeding heart do-gooder will call the cops on you. A sad commentary.

    I’m guessing that no one has noticed that the man in this item was waiving the knife and not waving it.
    It seems that he was trying to surrender the knife all along and we wasn’t brandishing it as a weapon.
