March 3rd, 2016 by WCBC Radio

March is Red Cross Month and the American Red Cross Northeast West Virginia Chapter is celebrating by holding Save-A-Life Saturdays during the month of March.  Red Cross workers will be participating in Home Fire Campaign installation events consisting of installing free smoke alarms, home fire escape planning and hazard education.  This program is open to everyone.  The Red Cross wants to help individuals, families and our community save lives and prevent injuries from home fires.  If anyone would like the Red Cross to come and install FREE smoke alarms in their home they can call 1-844-216-8286.

“Home fire tragedies in West Virginia can be curtailed by simply installing a smoke alarm,” said Carisa Collins, Executive Director for the American Red Cross Northeast West Virginia Chapter.  “Our Save-A-Life Saturdays are an excellent opportunity for anyone in the community to have a new smoke detector installed in their home.  We are also helping anyone who needs assistance installing or checking a smoke detector they may have purchased themselves.”

The event is part of the Home Fire Campaign which is an ongoing program throughout the state.  Since October 2014, the Red Cross has installed almost four thousand free smoke alarms in West Virginia as part of the Home Fire Campaign to save lives and reduce injuries.
