Marchini Comments on Healthier Board Budget

The Allegany County Board of Education officially began its budget process Tuesday night with a special meeting to establish budget priorities for the coming year.  The goals, in no particular order, were identified as: reducing the student teacher ratio; keeping and extending student programs; expanding salary and benefits packages for employees; and refraining from utilizing the reserve fund to balance the budget. With a reserve fund standing at $8.5 million and health insurance costs now under control for the most part- Board President Laurie Marchini said the board begins this budget process in a healthier state than in recent years…
