Dr. David Cox, Superintendent of Schools, has named Matt Marlowe as the school system’s Interim Coordinator of Student Support Services, providing areas of student support services previously provided by Dr. Ben Brauer, who has accepted the position of Coordinator of Title IX at Frostburg State University.

Mr. Marlowe received his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism/International Studies from The Ohio State University and his Master of Arts in Teaching from Frostburg State University. He also completed additional coursework in criminal justice at Central Texas College. Marlowe held the position of Technology Education teacher at Washington Middle School from 2009-2017 and was most recently a Technology Education teacher at Fort Hill High School.

Prior to his tenure in Allegany County Public Schools, Mr. Marlowe worked in intelligence and counterterrorism operations for the Central Intelligence Agency for six years and served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Military Police Corps for five years.

Some of Mr. Marlowe’s responsibilities as the Interim Coordinator of Student Support Services will include providing oversight and system wide staff development for bullying, harassment, and Title IX; coordinating and supervising student support organizations; working with legal counsel on special hearings; investigating safety incidents and accidents; serving as the district liaison for computer science, technology, education, and robotics; and planning, developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive and system wide school safety operations to ensure a safe environment for students, staff, and the community.

"While I will miss being in the classroom, I'm excited to continue supporting the students in Allegany County in a different capacity, and I am looking forward to the new challenge,” said Marlowe. His position at Fort Hill will be filled by a long-term substitute teacher for the 2018-2019 school year.
