Maryland Adding Jobs

August 22nd, 2015 by WCBC Radio

Maryland employers added more than 9,000 jobs in July, according to a new Department of Labor survey data released Friday. The 9,200 job gain was Maryland's third largest monthly increase reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics in the last 12 months. The estimate was accompanied by a revision of the job loss reported in June, which reduced the cuts by about half, from 6,200 to 3,400. Despite the increase in jobs, the state's unemployment rate remained unchanged at 5.2 percent — a hair lower than the national average — as more people entered the workforce.
