Maryland and Purple Line leaders still arguing over cost

March 22nd, 2019 by WCBC Radio

Construction of the Purple Line is now 10 percent complete, according to project leaders who provided an update Thursday before the Montgomery County Council’s transportation committee. “The design of the project is largely complete,” said Fred Craig, CEO of Purple Line Transit Partners, a group of companies that is building the line. “You’ll see that there is now construction going on in a lot of different places. Then, of course, there’s a lot of reconstruction of bridges and those types of things that we either pass over or pass under.”  Construction began in August 2017 but it had been scheduled to get underway long before that.  It was delayed as Maryland transportation officials successfully fought a federal lawsuit that had been filed by project opponents.
