Maryland Gaming Continues to Rise; Rocky Gap Increases Over 2014

Dollars continue to flow at the Rocky Gap Casino resort according to the latest state numbers- with gaming overall setting a record for the just completed fiscal year. Maryland officials say lottery sales and casino revenues contributed over a billion dollars to the state in the 2015 fiscal year, the first time the number has topped the $1 billion mark. Maryland's five casinos produced nearly $100 million in combined revenue in July, with vacationers on the Eastern Shore and in Western Maryland helping to lift the gambling haul to a new high.  The Casino at Ocean Downs produced $6.3 million in July, up 4.9 percent year-over-year. Rocky Gap Casino resort reported $4.3 million in July, up 4.1 percent from the same month last year.  Maryland Lottery and Gaming Director Gordon Medinica said that while the growing revenue stream is impressive, he doesn’t expect to see any significant efforts to expand gambling further over the next five years…
