Maryland General Assembly Officially Underway

The 90-day session of the Maryland General Assembly is now officially underway with opening ceremonies and the swearing in process completed at noon Wednesday. It is the 435th session of the Maryland General Assembly. In the House of Delegates, 58 of the 141 delegates are be newly elected, including 1C representative Mike Mckay and 1B representative Jason Buckel. In largely routine matters,  Michael Busch was re-elected Speaker of the House, and Mike Miller is re-elected Senate President. Busch has led the House since 2003.  Miller has led the Senate since 1987.  Miller said he expects the democrat controlled house and senate to work well with republican governor-elect Larry Hogan, however he doesn’t see the new governor implementing all of the sweeping fiscal changes he has been talking about in the past year…
