Tomorrow, Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley appears before the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee which is considering his bill to repeal the death penalty. The governor has been a vocal opponent of the death penalty- arguing that it’s a waste of resources that could be better used to fight crime in more productive ways. Although he is opposed to the governor’s initiative, Senate President Mike Miller says he won’t try to persuade the committee to shoot down a death penalty repeal, saying that he’ll let it go to the full senate for debate and a vote up or down.
