Maryland Seeing Uptick In Horse Racing Business

Maryland started seeing a decline in its coveted horse-racing industry in the 90s as neighboring states introduced casino gambling. Now, after several years of legal casinos in Maryland, the state is seeing a huge turnaround when it comes to horses, according to a new report. Mike Pons, co-owner of Merryland and Country Life Farm in Hydes says the uptick in business has been noticeable. Pons talked about the revival of sorts in Maryland's horse-racing business, highlighted by a new report by the Sage Policy Group released Monday at Goucher College, which also is the new home of Maryland Horse Breeders Association.
