Maryland Senate Approves Gas Tax

The Maryland State Senate has approved a bill to raise gasoline taxes for the purposes of transportation upgrades and projects around the state. According to WBAL News, the measure was approved in the Senate less than 24 hours after it was approved in committee. The vote was 27-20. The bill phases in a 5% sales tax on gasoline over four years. Locally, George Edwards voted against the legislation.
