Marylanders Among Those Struggling the Most with Rent Payments

July 13th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

According to data released by Lendingtree.com, Maryland is second in a ranking of states where Americans are deferring rent the most. 4.9 percent of renters in the state reportedly deferred their rent last month. The numbers data also showed the average monthly rental expense in Maryland is $1,371 dollars per month.

Rent is often the largest expense for many Americans

Researchers said the increase in rent deferrals is directly attributable to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Analysts are advising renters who are having trouble paying to contact their landlords immediately to set up a written payment plan.
