Md. is losing people because of it’s high taxes and is one of a few that taxes retirement income. People can’t afford to live here. Therefore the drop in unemployment. Many of our teachers and nurses live in West Virginia and commute. They in turn take the higher paying jobs and incomes to thier home states with them. Why do so many elderly leave the state? Retirement income should not be taxed. They too leave the state. Welfare benefits are too. Many of those people are 3rd and 4th generation families living off the system. Far Western Md. rarely benefits from a rise in employment anyway. Cumberland is the 9th poorest city in the U.S. We get prisons and students, none of which counts on the Census. We lose out that way too. They are counted in the area they come from in or out of the state. We pay to feed and give medical and dental care to the inmates housed here but not credit for thier numbers as citizens.Give me a break! We’ve now been gerrymandered out of existence as for being able to even have any impact on elections. Omalley his more important things now to concern himself with. He wants to become King. Excuse me President. We just don’t count.
