Last week all five members of the Cumberland Mayor and City Council as well as several staff members attended the annual Maryland Municipal League in Ocean City. The larger than normal contingent has some taxpayers wondering if footing the bill for such an event is worth it. Cumberland City Councilman David Kauffman took time during this week’s council meeting to address the critics. He said the conference is not an all expense paid vacation at the beach- but rather it’s an event that provides elected officials an invaluable opportunity for networking and learning the latest in municipal policies and programs….
