Demolition of properties is continuing as part of the Maryland Avenue Redevelopment Project- however more than two years into the effort- some citizens are curious as to when the project will come to fruition. The plan calls for removing 68 properties in the city's Rolling Mill neighborhood- with the target area located between Maryland Avenue and Park Street and Emily and Williams streets- to create room for commercial development. The project is being administered by the nonprofit Cumberland Economic Development Corporation with the property in the process of being transferred to Frederick-based developer Cumberland Gateway.
