Mayoral Candidate Dismisses Accusations Of CSX Conflicts

It hasn’t taken long for the campaign year rumor mill to heat up as just days after the primary election- whispers about one of the mayoral candidates and his relationship to his former employer began to surface. WCBC News has received a number of anonymous calls and messages suggesting that Ray Morriss, the top vote getter in last week’s primary election for mayor of Cumberland, may have some obvious conflicts when dealing with CSX- the company from which he retired. The suggestion being that if the city was to buy the CSX bridges, as many have suggested, Morriss as a CSX stockholder would benefit financially.  Speculation has also centered on what role if any CSX played in Morriss’ decision to seek the office.  Morriss talked with WCBC News and dismissed the accusations as nothing than an effort by someone with “limited knowledge” attempting to derail his campaign…
