McCoury Visits Two Area Nonprofits

December 14th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

Legendary bluegrass performer Del McCoury and his wife Jean made stops this week at two of the areas nonprofits receiving donations this year from the DelFest Foundation.  Since 2008, the McCoury family has hosted DelFest — a bluegrass festival held at the Allegany County Fairgrounds each Memorial Day weekend, attracting thousands of fans from across the country.  Del, a member of the Bluegrass Hall of Fame, tells WCBC News that the Delfest Foundation was formed as a way to support local charities that are making a difference in the community.  On Monday the McCoury’s visited Jane's Place Inc., a child advocacy center located in downtown Cumberland which helps children in Allegany County who suffer from physical and sexual abuse and neglect; and the Western Maryland Food Bank. Del and Jean talked about the experience during an appearance of WCBC’s “Dave Norman Show”…
