McKay “Back In” House 1C Race

August 31st, 2017 by WCBC Radio

The Herald Mail reports today that Delegate  Mike McKay, R-Washington/Allegany, said Thursday he will now run for re-election to the House of Delegates in legislative District 1C in next year's Republican primary. According to the Herald, McKay had said earlier this summer he planned to run for Allegany County register of wills. It was the recent appointment of former Cumberland Councilwoman Mary Beth Pirolozzi to that position to finish that he said led him to re-think his plans and decide to run for re-election instead. McKay also had applied to fill the remaining term of former Register of Wills Rebecca Drew, who resigned in early August. But when the judges of the Orphan's Court chose Pirolozzi instead, McKay wrestled with running against a personal friend for the position next year. He now says he will support Pirolozzi for election as Allegany County register of wills. There are now three Republicans vying for that party's nomination in 1C. Hancock attorney Jordan Lysczek filed on Wednesday, and former Cumberland Councilwoman Nicole Alt-Myers filed last week.
