McKay Elected As Organizations Chairman

A political coalition lobbying for the interests of rural Maryland counties continues to grow and last week Allegany County Commission President Mike McKay was elected as the organizations chairman.  With the recent additions of Caroline and Wicomico counties, the coalition now represents nine counties in the state. Caroline County commissioners and the Wicomico County Council both voted unanimously to join the coalition in the past two weeks- and after spurning an initial invite last year, there are indications that Garrett County may reconsider.  In addition to the two newest county members, the coalition members include Allegany, Carroll, Cecil, Dorchester, Frederick, Somerset and Washington counties. The coalition began with four counties in December. McKay was unanimously selected as chairman last Monday and he reports that interest in the coalition is growing…
