A priority of Allegany County Commissioners President Mike McKay during the recent Maryland Association of Counties Conference in Ocean City was trying to drum up new members for a coalition of rural counties- and those efforts proved successful. McKay he met with representatives from a number of counties to sell them on the idea of joining the Maryland Rural Counties Coalition, a group focused on giving rural jurisdictions an increased voice in the state’s legislative process.
