Maryland Attorney General Brian E. Frosh today released the following statement:
“President Trump’s declaration of a national emergency on our southern border is illegal, unnecessary, and dangerous. The asserted purpose of the order – national security – is a sham. The President’s order diverts funds from legitimate emergencies and puts at risk the health and safety of Americans as a result. It is also an abuse of executive authority. Our office is reviewing the declaration’s impact on Maryland and all options for redressing this unconstitutional usurpation of power.”
