MD Attorney General Wants To Limit Health Insurance Premium Increases

Maryland Attorney General Doug Gansler is calling on insurance regulators to limit any premium increases requested by health insurers to a maximum of 5%. Gansler is taking the action in response to a 25% rate request by Care First. The Maryland Insurance Administration is considering the rate request. He says there are rumors other insurers in Maryland will seek even larger increases in the coming months. Gansler says insurers are asking for large premium hikes in advance of the federal Affordable Health Care Act taking effect next year. Gansler says consumers cannot afford the large rate hikes, which he believes are not justified….

    If they can’t afford the premium increases, then get rid of Obamacare.
