MD Democrats Calling For Probe Against Those Running Ads Against Dream Act

Maryland Democrats are calling for a probe of a group running ads against the Dream Act.  Just three weeks from the election lawyers for the state Democratic Party have sent a formal request to the state prosecutor and the state elections board asking for the investigation. They contend that a group opposing the legislation is in violation because they claim the group failed formally to register a ballot initiative committee with the state. That would show where they get their money. An official with Help Save Maryland told the Baltimore Sun the move is a violation of first amendment rights. The Dream Act would allow some illegal immigrants generally on a citizenship track to qualify for lower in state tuition rates. The state’s top democrat, Governor Martin O’Malley, continues to speak out in support of the legislation…
