October 27th, 2012 by WCBC Radio

Maryland’s highway officials are fueling up vehicles, clearing drains and getting chain saws and other equipment ready to deal with Hurricane Sandy.

State Highway Administration head Melinda B. Peters also says crews are preparing for the possibility of snow in western Maryland.

Peters says significant tree damage and power outages are a major concern.

The agency will program overhead signs along major roadways and traveler advisory radios to tell motorists about crashes, delays and route diversions.
