MDH Releases Weely Nursing Home Staff Vaccination List

August 30th, 2021 by WCBC Radio

The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) today announced an update on the top 10 and bottom 10 skilled nursing facilities in the state ranked by percentage of staff with at least one dose of a vaccine against COVID-19 and highly contagious variants. MDH also announced skilled nursing facilities that did not submit adequate staff COVID-19 vaccination data as required by the state.

As announced by Governor Larry Hogan on August 18, new vaccination protocols have taken effect, with all nursing home staff required to show their first or single dose of COVID-19 vaccine by September 1.

On May 4, 2021, the Maryland Department of Aging launched the Skilled Nursing Facilities Vaccination Dashboard, which weekly publishes data on residents and staff vaccinated against COVID-19 at each of the skilled nursing  facilities in the state.

“Skilled nursing facilities in Maryland understand their role in protecting our most vulnerable residents in the state from COVID-19 and have been working diligently to ensure residents and staff at their facilities are vaccinated against this deadly disease,” said MDH Secretary Dennis R. Schrader. “With 88.9 percent of residents and 81.9 percent of staff with at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose now, they are doing their part in our fight in this pandemic.”

“I am thrilled that nursing home facilities and their staff in the state are answering our call to step up and are increasing the number of staff who are now vaccinated against COVID-19,” said Maryland Department of Aging Secretary Rona E. Kramer. “Some facilities still have a way to go and I am confident that they will continue to make positive progress.”

Skilled nursing homes and congregate facilities in Maryland with enforcement action

Since April 29, 2020, nursing homes have been required to report certain data in the CRISP system. This CRISP data is analyzed daily and is crucial in guiding the State and local COVID responses, along with providing hospitals the necessary information to facilitate hospital discharges in a timely manner. This week, the MDH Office of Health Care Quality (OHCQ) will be imposing civil money penalties on 55 nursing homes that did not comply with the CRISP reporting requirements for at least one day during the first two weeks of August.
