Memorial Avenue Arrest

On Tuesday, January 1st, 2019 the Cumberland Police Department responded to a Memorial Avenue residence for the report of a female assaulting a male and she was attemting to set items on fire inside the residence.  When officers arrived, contact was made with a male complainant who alleged that Laura Marie Silbaugh struck him in the head with a shoe during an argument.  He also alleged that Silbaugh was attempting to set a bed sheet on fire but stopped once he had called for the police.  Officers did observe an injury to the male that was consistent with his statment.  Silbaugh was arrested and charged with 2nd degree assault.  She was taken before the Distirct Court Commissioner and was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center held without bond.
