Metz Will Not Seek Third Term

The longest serving member of the Allegany County Board of Education has decided not to seek a third term. With the deadline to file to run for what will be two board seats up for election this coming Wednesday, Jeff Metz tells WCBC News that he feels the time is right to take a break from at the end of this year. Metz, whose term along with that of board member Ed Root, expire this year, says that he feels he has seen most of his goals achieved during his 7 plus years on the board. He pointed to seeing the completion of the new Mountain Ridge High School in Frostburg, and the early successful efforts in planning for a new Allegany High School in Cumberland as high water marks for him. Having seriously considered making a run for County Commissioner two years ago- Metz isn’t completely closing the door on politics…
