A 42 year old man believed to be from the Keyser area was shot and killed early Saturday morning after a confrontation with police near Fort Ashby. Harvey E. Oates was shot after he moved forward toward officers and didn't comply with a demand that he stop and drop his weapon. Police were called to intervene when it appeared he was despondent and had a firearm.
