Mineral County residence destroyed by fire

An unoccupied residence in the Nancy Hanks subdivision was destroyed by fire Tuesday morning, according to the Mineral County 911 emergency center. Mineral County sheriff's deputies were first at the scene and reported smoke showing from the dwelling. The Cumberland Times News reports the fire was reported in a 911 call to the emergency center by a neighbor.

Units alerted by the 911 center at 8:08 a.m. included New Creek fire and ambulance, Keyser EMS, and fire departments that included Fountain, Burlington, Piedmont, Potomac, Moorefield, Romney and Maysville.

 

There were no injuries and no one was at home when the fire occurred.

The emergency center said the property was a total loss.

The cause and origin remain under investigation.
