April 20th, 2017 by WCBC Radio

Mineral County residents can register to receive emergency alerts and community advisories on their mobile device. The Cumberland Times News reports that Mineral County Emergency Management and 911 has partnered with Nixle to implement its Community Notification System to alert residents in real-time for localized emergency situations and relevant community advisories.

To register, residents can text their zip code to 888777 from a mobile phone or visit, www.nixle.com and enter a zip code.

Once registered, residents will receive a confirmation text message. Residents may customize their alert settings by going to www.nixle.com and creating a user profile.

Nixle is partnered with NLETS for data security, as well as the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the National Blue Alert Network and Google for reach and two-way information exchange
