The Mineral County Sheriff’s office is operating with what some would call a skeleton crew these days. It’s a situation that the County Commissioners would like to address, but funding is tight and there are other challenges as well. Commissioners President Dr. Richard Lechliter tells WCBC News that while a slight increase in funding for the sheriff’s department was approved last year- those funds don’t go very far, and in addition, it’s becoming more and more difficult to attract qualified individuals to law enforcement positions in the county…
