Money To Implement Kirwan Commission Recommendations A Big Hurdle To Clear

The Kirwan Commission on Maryland public education wrapped up its work in Annapolis in late November when the commission voted 19-3 to pass its recommendations to state lawmakers. All that's left to work out now is how the state and local governments will pay for almost $4 billion in educational improvements. Committing money is the issue lawmakers said will be their biggest hurdle to clear. The conversation will continue when the General Assembly comes back into session in two weeks. Governor Larry Hogan says to implement the recommendations would require crippling state and local tax hikes- and that is something he won’t support. Delegate Jason Buckel shares those concerns. While some are suggesting a revenue stream created by the state legalizing and taxing recreational marijuana, Buckel says even if that were to occur, it wouldn’t come close to covering the cost of the Kirwan recommendations…

    This all started because the filthy Democrats never heard of less revenue because property values dropped and so it led to less money for education. Their that is why Kirwan was created and headed by a Bona Fide Marxist name Kirwan.
