When the Lakes Entertainment Group announced drastically scaled down plans for a slot casino at the Rocky Gap Lodge last summer- local elected officials did not hide their frustration and were particularly concerned with the loss of conference space. Lakes officials heard those concerns and have now come up with a plan that actually provides conference space beyond what is currently available at the lodge and conference center. The new conference space will replace space lost when the current conference rooms are revamped to make room for gaming. Additional gaming tables and slots, as well as conference space, could be added as “demand warrants” according to Tim Cope, president of Lakes.
